Africa for many people is the sunrise continent, the richest in terms of resources, but ironically the poorest in terms if per-capita and GDP.
ASTM International is now taking efforts to share its resources with African countries to upgrade the technical knowledge of the people of Africa.
As a part of this out reach effort, a program on Textile Performance Standards was held between 30th Nov and 4th December at the Botswana Bureau of Standards ( BOBS). The program was conducted by ASTM Trainer Jayakumar ( Kumar) . The core objective of the program was to make the participants understand how to develop standards and specifications for textiles that the people of Botswana use, both General wearing Apparel as well as Specialized apparel.
The program was well attended by over 50 persons, and every participant , has stated that they enjoyed the program and learnt several new information on textile testing and quality.
